Talk Title: Recent developments in Julia for data science
Talk Overview: Julia is a modern language for technical computing, which is as easy as Python and as fast as C. In this talk we will discuss some of the recent developments in Julia, and new features from the Julia 1.7 release. Julia is rapidly becoming the language of choice for scientific machine learning and is being adopted in the pharmaceutical, finance, and engineering industries. We will discuss some of these case studies as well.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Viral B. Shah is a co-creator of the Julia language. He is also Co-founder and CEO of Julia Computing. He received the James H. Wilkinson prize for Numerical software in 2019 for his work on Julia. Julia has been covered in Nature magazine and received over 1,000 citations. Viral received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
