Talk Title: The multi-billion dollar commercial market for physics-based simulations
Talk Overview: I graduated from the Oden Institute in 2008 with an outstanding education in computational sciences, engineering and mathematics, but relatively little knowledge and understanding of the large and important commercial industry that has developed around those subjects. This talk will highlight that industry, including a discussion on how it impacts the economy, and the ‘pipeline’ that funnels work from the Oden Institute (and others like it) directly into commercial simulation codes, and ultimately to end users and industries.
Speaker: Anthony Dawson, VP & GM of Product at Ansys Inc., graduated from the Oden Institute with a Master’s degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics in 2008. Since then, he has worked as a research scientist for the US Department of Defense, started and sold his own business, and joined Ansys, the market leader in engineering simulation.
